I know what it is like to have ADHD and be a student. I was not diagnosed until college, but I had all the typical symptoms of a child with non-hyperactive ADHD: I was called lazy, unmotivated, and not reaching my potential. I was told over and over to 'just try harder.' Although eventually diagnosed and treated, my journey to success was a rocky one. As a school counselor, and a licensed counselor in private practice, I have seen many kids deal with similar difficult journeys. A major goal in my life is to help those kids and their parents find a smoother road to success. In my private practice in Reston VA, my faculty position at Virginia Tech, my seminars, or my book, my goal is the same: to help create a clear path for success in life.
